In an interview with Alice Moitié, Chloé Jouannet returned to a misadventure which led her to the police station. At 18, Alexandra Lamy’s daughter allegedly hit a car before fleeing. A behavior that says a lot about his lack of responsibility, at this moment. How can we explain such an avoidance of reality? Pascal Anger, clinical psychologist, answers us.
The gendarmerie summoned the actress
This Wednesday, December 10, 2025, the daughter of Alexandra Lamy and Thomas Jouannet found herself in front of Alice Moitié’s microphone,
podcast creator. On this occasion, the 28-year-old actress shared an astonishing anecdote: after borrowing her father’s car, she hit a vehicle… and fled.
“I was with my sister, who was 8 years old and I was 18 years old. I had just gotten my license, so we took my father’s car (…) But when it came time to keep me, I ruined a car!”
she remembered.
Frightened, Chloé Jouannet looks to see if her father’s car has anything – which is the case. The actress then runs away and abandons the other damaged vehicle.
“I thought it was good, that the story was behind me. But months later, I am at my father’s house for the weekend, the gendarmerie summons me”, she continues. She then finds herself in police custody… denounced by her father himself.
“My father still came to pick me up after a few hours. We argued but we laughed,” she concluded, while emphasizing that she had resolved the damage caused so that the complaint could be withdrawn.
Impulsive behavior more than a lack of maturity
Chloé Jouannet believes that this story allowed her to become aware of her actions… and to take full responsibility for them.
“It made me realize that I was a little idiot,” she says.
But for Pascal Anger, the young woman’s flight does not necessarily reflect a lack of maturity, or a form of cowardice.
“This accident may have caused her to flee, not necessarily to avoid her responsibilities, but to manage an intense trauma. Faced with an overwhelming event, it is indeed common to “take action” in order to protect one’s inner balance.“, he recalls.
At this moment, guilt can indeed take over. “She may have been afraid of finding herself confronted by the authorities: how can she explain what happened? The stress generated by this accident can cause blocking, disengagement, and a form of “focus” on one’s own emotional survival.“, admits the expert again.
The past can influence our reactions… although it does not excuse everything
The past, and life experiences in general, also matter a lot in our ability to react.
“Traumatic experiences experienced in childhood can influence our own reflexes when faced with an incident: escape then becomes a protective mechanism, allowing us to take a step back and avoid immediately confronting the situation. However, this withdrawal is both a source of stress and an obstacle to taking responsibility, because taking responsibility for one’s actions remains necessary,” believes the practitioner.
Before judging the youthful mistakes made by the actress, understanding what really happened, what is hidden behind her escape and what this reveals about her past traumas therefore remains essential.
Ultimately, taking responsibility involves confronting your fear and thinking about what it says about your experience.
“Despite everything, being an adult also means learning to cope with your actions, despite the stress and discomfort that this can generate,” concludes the practitioner.
