In the anti-aging section, the bottles look the same, the promises jostle and we no longer know which cream to reach for. To see clearly, we sifted through 12 new products: creams, serums and eye contour treatments released in recent months, tested on different skin types.
Whether you have combination skin that still shines a little, dry skin that feels tight or sensitive skin that reddens at the slightest friction, the needs are not the same. As collagen production begins to decline around age 25, choosing the right routine becomes a real matter of targeting.
Creams, serums and eye contour: the verdict
For several weeks, we applied each anti-aging cream, serum and eye contour treatment morning and evening, to dry, combination, oily or sensitive skin. Texture, comfort, tolerance, compatibility with makeup, but also composition and star active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, Centella Asiatica, niacinamide or retinol served as a compass, as did the budget, from €20 to much more depending on the brand.
Among the creams, Caudalie Premier Cru Crème and Krème Collagen Smoothing have particularly convinced skin seeking firmness without a mask effect, the second displaying a 100/100 on Yuka. Dehydrated skin preferred Hyal Ceutic Dermaceutic, rich in 5.5% hyaluronic acid at different molecular weights, while SVR (Collagen) Biotic focused on 2% collagen and 97% ingredients of natural origin.
Depending on your skin type: cream + serum duos that really work
For normal to combination skin, who want results without shine, multi-active serums like Double Serum Clarins or Rénergie HPN Lancôme have worked well combined with light textures. On oily skin or skin prone to adult blemishes, we have favored non-comedogenic formulas based on niacinamide, vitamin C and low-dose retinol or bakuchiol, to smooth without triggering spots.
Dry or very mature skin especially liked rich creams like Caudalie Premier Cru, combined with oily pro-collagen serums. For sensitive skin prone to redness, the new Centella Red Serum Erborian relies on 2% Korean Centella Asiatica, bisabolol and ectoine; the brand mentions -40% redness in 24 hours and +34% improvement in complexion uniformity after 28 days.
Anti-aging eye contour: the right gesture that changes everything
The area around the eyes is very fragile: its skin is 4 to 5 times thinner than that of the cheeks and does not tolerate repeated friction. However, we apply this treatment more than 700 times a year; if the action is brutal, mechanical wrinkles set in.
To correct the situation, follow three simple steps:
- Take the equivalent of a grain of rice for both eyes;
- Apply the treatment to the orbital bone, never at the eyelash level;
- Tap only with the ring finger, without rubbing or pulling the skin.
