Vibrio vulnificusa marine bacteria sometimes nicknamed “flesh-eating”. This new alert is in addition to two recalls already launched on this product.
The product concerned is the sachet of FROZEN WILD PRAWNS – WHOLE RAW TROPICAL SHRIMP – 500Gbrand Round of the Seas of E.Leclerc, identified by GTIN 3564700484647. After a batch starting with 3F21 recalled in 2024, then batch 4J11 in 2025, it is now batch 5J12, with due date 09/30/2027, which is withdrawn for the same bacteria.

Vibrio vulnificus: what is the risk with these shrimps?
These shrimp have been recalled because they may contain the bacteria Vibrio vulnificus. Belonging to the same family as cholera, it is found all over the world, in warm salty or brackish waters. You can therefore be infected when you consume contaminated seafood like these prawns.
Symptoms of a bacteria-related infection Vibrio vulnificus (flesh-eating bacteria) can result in gastrointestinal disorders but also in severe non-intestinal disorders (generalized infection/sepsis) in susceptible people or those suffering from pre-existing chronic conditions. Furthermore, skin infections are likely to occur from pre-existing injuries when handling products.
What to do if you have these prawns at home?

If you have eaten it, watch for the appearance of fever, abdominal pain or vomiting for 2 to 3 days and consult quickly if you have any symptoms, especially if you have a chronic illness or a weakened immune system.
