Not everyone has the aura of Charlize Theron or Rihanna in front of their mirror in the morning, but the right perfume can seriously change the way you carry yourself. Arnaud Guggenbuhl, Fine Fragrance marketing director at Givaudan, recalls: “Perfume has the role of a liberating outlet, it allows you to dare, to define yourself, to proclaim your own identity with force. Scientific studies have shown that 75% of emotions are triggered by smell. So, yes, a perfume can make us feel stronger, more confident“.
For an immediate shot of confidence, some recent launches from Prada, Mugler, Chloé, Balmain and Byredo are real
perfumes that give you self-confidence. The Prada Paradoxe Virtual Flower eau de parfum, the flamboyant Angel Fantasm by Mugler, the intense eau de parfum by Chloé, Rouge by Balmain or Rose of No Man’s Land by Byredo each play a different score, from musky freshness to sensual floral. These five fragrances take over your outfit, your makeup and even your mood. Here’s how to adopt them according to the vibe you want to send.
Why these scents boost your confidence in one spray
At Prada, eau de parfum Virtual Flower Paradox focuses on a fresh and floral signature enhanced by artificial intelligence. Bergamot, jasmine and musk create a clean but assertive trail, for €115. With Emma Watson as a muse, everything is designed to awaken the most daring version of yourself.
Angel Fantasy Mugler breaks the rules with its bergamot combined with a juicy pineapple accord and creamy coconut. With Hunter Schafer as the face of the campaign, this evening perfume at €120 for 50 ml makes you want to go out, take responsibility, flirt with the spotlight.
Chloé, Balmain, Byredo: each perfume has its own type of confidence
The intense eau de parfum of Chloe reinvents the famous house rose with soft woods. The juice becomes “rich, opulent, carnal, in short, more powerful than ever”. At €116 for 50 ml, it’s the ideal ally for work days where you want to feel calm but impossible to shake.
Red, the eau de parfum of Balmainbrings together fleur de lys, ylang ylang and magnolia. For Olivier Rousteing, he “radiates an addictive love that only the magic of the Los Angeles setting sun can arouse, when the sky is ablaze and everything seems possible“. For a less girly floral, Byredo offers Rose of No Man’s Land; “I hate anything too floral or too feminine, and this fragrance feels like it has the right balance,” says Rebecca, senior fashion editor at Cosmopolitan UK.
Perfume and intimate well-being: the new scene of confidence
Confidence through perfume also explores other areas. The startup Amorecco, launched in 2025, imagines lickable perfumes designed for intimate well-being: “Creating a space where women can assert themselves and feel more confident is a cause that is particularly close to my heart.“, confides its co-founder Luce Grover. Their formulas are inspired by traditional perfumery, remain inedible but can be licked without danger, to support confidence even in the most private moments.
