It contains 150,000 spicules associated with a duo of trendy active ingredients, PDRN and EGF, to boost the natural production of collagen. According to Vogue France, the PDRN used comes from biotechnology rather than salmon DNA, which makes it vegan. The idea is clear: take advantage of the micro-channels created by the spicules to pass molecules that are usually too large, where collagen is really made.
How the micro-spikes of Typology A63 serum act on the skin
Concretely, these spicules are natural micro-needles, often from marine sponges, capable of penetrating into the dermis and creating tiny channels in the skin. Invisible to the naked eye, these micro-perforations trigger a repair response that firms the tissues. The effect is similar to microneedling practiced in the cabin, but with a lesser depth and therefore a reduced risk of irritation. You especially feel tingling, as if the skin was “working” after application.
For Mélanie Klein, Typology product manager, the interest of A63 comes from the combination between these needles and anti-aging active ingredients: “The micro-spicules allow the complex of EGF and PDRN active ingredients – molecules usually too large to cross the skin barrier – to penetrate deeper into the epidermis for better effectiveness.. Collagen: what the Typology A63 serum changes (and does not change)
To put the promise into perspective, Juliette Lailler, co-founder of the Krème brand, recalls in ELLE that “Collagen is the architect of our skin. It is produced by fibroblasts, the “architect cells” of the dermis, and ensures the tone of the tissues”. She also specifies: “The decline occurs from the age of thirty”. With age, the cells of the dermis pull the tissues less well, which explains the loss of firmness and the gradual appearance of wrinkles.
Juliette Lailler tempers the promises: “The main obstacle to the effectiveness of collagen serums is the size of the molecule.”
She recalls that “Collagen applied directly to the skin will not go far enough for anti-aging action, but it is a good humectant”.
The A63 Regenerating Micro-Spicules Serum therefore focuses on the stimulation of fibroblasts, via PDRN and EGF, rather than on a supply of surface collagen.
