On the perfectly groomed snow of Tesero, spectators of the
Olympic Games 2026 thought they would attend a qualification of
cross-country skiing everything that is most classic. A few minutes later, however, it was an unexpected guest, on four legs, who stole the show from the cross-country skiers.
The incident occurred on February 18, 2026, during qualifying for the women’s team sprint freestyle, at the Nordic venue of the Olympic Games. Milan-Cortina 2026. Amidst cries of encouragement and the sound of spatulas, a
wolfdog suddenly burst onto the track, under the amused eyes of the audience. What followed was even more surprising.
In Tesero, a four-legged intruder on the 2026 Olympic track
According to the images, the animal is wearing a collar, with a medal shining on its dark fur. It appears a few dozen meters from the finish, where the cross-country skiers generally launch their last effort. This “unexpected athlete” suddenly finds himself at the heart of an Olympic event, without really seeming to realize it.
First, the dog heads towards the edge of the track, visibly fascinated by a camera mounted on rails which follows the competitors in the final straight. He runs behind this technical equipment, as if it were a game, before gradually moving towards the center of the track.
The wolfdog sprints with Tena Hadzic and Konstantina Charalampidou
This is where he finds himself alongside two cross-country skiers in full effort: the Croatian Tena Hadzic and the Greek
Konstantina Charalampidou. The animal follows in their wake and runs a few dozen meters with them, in a final sprint that is as surreal as it is harmless. He crosses the finish line just behind the two athletes, like a real competitor.
The skiers do not seem destabilized and continue their action until the end. Organizers confirmed that the race was not disrupted and that the results remained valid. The dog’s time was obviously not taken into account in the official ranking, even if his small performance made an impression.
An unusual image that makes you smile Milan-Cortina 2026
Very quickly, officials joined the animal, which appeared docile. It was taken away from the track a few moments after the finish line, then returned to its owner, a spectator who had been briefly absent. On site, the scene caused a mixture of astonishment and laughter among the athletes, spectators and commentators.
This light break in the middle of a very supervised competition could well remain as one of the funny images of these Olympic Games 2026. It also implicitly raises the question of the vigilance of dog owners around competition sites, where a single second of inattention is sometimes enough to transform a faithful companion into an improvised Olympic star.
