On red carpets, on TikTok and even in open spaces, a hairstyle makes hair and likes counters swell. Impeccable volume, mirror shine, very chic 90’s look: the bubble blowout has become the favorite blow-dry for girls who like to stand out.
The trigger comes from Hollywood: in the fall of 2025, Amal Clooney appears with a new cut signed by star hairdresser Dimitris Giannetos, shorter but infinitely more voluminous. Since then, this 3.0 blow-dry has invaded red carpets and social networks. It remains to be understood what makes it so different from a classic blow-dry.
Bubble blowout: 3.0 blow-drying inspired by the 90s
The bubble blowout is a very puffy blow-dry inspired by the 90s, but polished for 2026. The roots are lifted, the lengths very smooth, the ends rounded inwards. The hair forms a continuous and shiny mass which frames the face like a bubble.
For Amal Clooney, Dimitris Giannetos cut about 15 to 20 centimeters to obtain a long bob at the neckline, soft but structured. He describes this style as “like a classic blowout on steroids: extra voluminous, extra fluffy, brushed from the inside to create a bubble illusion“, he explained to Elle magazine.
The secrets of bubble blowout validated by Hollywood hairstylists
In the salon, the “bubble” effect is built strand by strand with a round brush. Each section is first stretched upward to boost the root, then rolled inward and heated. The hairdresser then lets the strand cool in this position before brushing it to blend everything together.
The pros rely on a light shine treatment, never greasy, precise drying and a flexible lacquer to maintain the bounce. This voluminous blow-dry gives the illusion of denser hair, especially on fine mid-length or long hair, and can be worn both at the office and in a formal evening.
How to adopt bubble blowout at home without a false note
At home, we start with a light shampoo, a treatment that is not heavy, then on towel-dried hair a heat-protecting spray and, on fine hair, a volumizing spray at the roots. We then divide the hair and repeat the method with a round brush, with the tip of the hairdryer pointing downwards. Three reflexes are enough to get closer to the results of the pros:
- Lift each strand at the roots to create volume;
- Roll the ends inward and let cool;
- Then brush towards the face to maintain the “bubble” effect.
To finish, a drop of serum placed only on the lengths is enough to smooth the surface, before a veil of soft lacquer. On colored or fragile hair, it is better to reserve the bubble blowout for days when you really want to make a statement, then revive the volume the next day with a little dry shampoo and brushing inwards.
