This medication provides quick relief to a babyā€™s post-immunisation fever, teething, headache, cold and flu, toothache, earache, sore throat, and other aches and pains. The syrup comes in a great-tasting strawberry flavour.

What are the Calpol ingredients?

The active ingredient of Calpol Infant Suspension is Paracetamol 120 mg per 5 ml.

Other ingredients are sucrose, sorbitol liquid (E420), glycerol, polysorbate 80, asulfame potassium, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E214), dispersible cellulose, xanthan gum and purified water. The flavouring is strawberry and colouring is carmoisine (E122). Every 5 ml of this product contains 2.2 g of sucrose.

Calpol Infant Suspension comes in a pink oral liquid, available in 100 ml and 200 ml bottles. It contains 120 mg of the active ingredient Paracetamol in every 5 ml of medicine.

If an infant between 2-3 months old is taking this medicine for other causes of pain and fever and he or she weighs less than 4 kg or was born before 37 weeks, this medicine is not recommended for use.

Consult your doctor before using this medicine if the child has medical conditions like a serious kidney or liver problem, an inherited intolerance to fructose or been diagnosed with an intolerance to some other sugars, or taking any other medicines including metoclopramide or domperidone (used to treat nausea and vomiting ), cholestyramine (used to treat high cholesterol), anticoagulants (drugs that thin the blood, such as warfarin), and anticonvulsants (drugs to treat epilepsy).

How do I use Calpol Infant Suspension Original? 

Calpol Infant Suspension is for oral use only.

Make sure to follow the dosage guidelines mentioned in the leaflet or as advised by your doctor.

Always start by shaking the bottle for 10 seconds before using it. Remove the cap and then insert the syringe securely on top of the bottle. With the syringe inserted, turn the bottle upside down. Pull the plunger down and get the required dosage. Turn back the bottle and syringe the right way up and then remove the syringe gently. Put the end of the syringe in the mouth of the child, placing it against the cheek. Release the medicine gently by pressing the plunger.

After the medicine is taken by the baby, clean the bottle by wiping it, and then return the cap. Wash and dry the syringe after use.
