Kitchen lovers using aromatic herbs are called to vigilance. A product recall was issued on July 18, 2025 concerning several references of aromatic plants from the Auchan brand: tarragon, thyme and ginger. These products, available at room temperature, are distributed in store stores throughout France. The reason for the recall is worrying: analyzes have revealed a presence of heavy metals (such as lead or mercury) and pesticide residues exceeding regulatory thresholds.
These herbs, sold under conventional packaging and used on a daily basis in many culinary preparations, are likely to present a health risk in the event of regular consumption. Auchan therefore invites consumers to no longer consume them and report them in store.

What are the risks to health?
The presence of heavy metals such as lead, cadmium or mercury may present a toxic risk, especially in the event of repeated exposure. These substances can cause harmful effects on the nervous system, kidneys or children’s development. In addition, pesticide residues exceeding regulatory thresholds strengthen this danger, notably by posing allergic or endocrine risks. This type of contamination makes products unfit for consumption.
How to be reimbursed?
Consumers who bought these products are invited to no longer consume them. It is recommended to bring them to the point of sale where they will be reimbursed. The recall procedure is underway until September 14, 2025, which leaves customers for several weeks to carry out the process. For any questions, a contact number is available: 03 59 30 59 30.
