Dietitian: "Never take this dish on a motorway area"
Midi sounds, the lines lie on the motorway areas. However, behind these fast meals hides a very real digestive trap: a particular dish should be avoided absolutely, warns a dietician.

On the holiday road, breaks on the motorway areas are often an opportunity to eat quickly. Except that the triangle sandwiches, ready -made salads and Pasta box to warm are not ideal for your health. And among these poorly recommended options, a meal is a great at fault. Julie Boët, dietician-nutritionist, explains to us what is this dish to avoid.

On the motorway areas, this meal taken on the go leaves something to be desired

Among the most popular dishes, one in particular often returns: “The well-gratinated panini, generally garnished with several melted cheeses or a ham-fucked combo or the classic sometimes associated with a packet of chips or fries“, alerts the expert. “Except that if it turns out to be easy to eat, warm and comforting … It does not really represent an ally of your digestive comfort on a long journey”.

And for good reason: said Panini, composed of white bread, industrial ham and melted cheese, is anything but balanced.

“This type of dish is often very rich in saturated fat and salt, with few fiber and a significant calorie load for a low satiety. Result: slow digestion, a feeling of heaviness and sometimes bloating, which can be uncomfortable by car, especially if you still have several hours on the road. To this is often added a sugary drink or an industrial dessert that is still increasing. A blow of fatigue linked to a fall in your blood sugar and therefore promote fatigue behind the wheel, something you want to avoid “, warns the dietician.

But rest assured: if it remains occasional, no dish is to be demonized“What matters is the frequency and the context. This kind of meal taken once on the holiday route, in a moment of pleasure, will have no real impact on your overall health.”

To which flat (s) to turn?

If you have a little time before departure, “Remember to prepare homemade, lighter, economical and practical options “, advises Julie Boët. Here are some easy -to -take ideas:

  • Northern Tartins in the wholemeal bread: “Farmented bread, fresh cheese, cucumber slices, smoked salmon and dill. Packing in baking paper for easy tasting, even without plate”;
  • Bento Express: “Some raw vegetables (cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks), a hard egg, cheese cubes, and a handful of almonds or nuts. A balanced meal, without cooking, which can be kept well “;
  • Chicken wrap with raw vegetables: “A wheat pancake, a few pieces of grilled chicken, grated carrots, a little fresh cheese and a salad sheet. Easy to transport, it is eaten without cutlery”;
  • Lentil salad, feta and cherry tomatoes: “Rassasiant, rich in fiber and vegetable proteins, it holds up even without refrigeration for a few hours.”

On the motorway area, “Finally, remember to hydrate yourself, avoid too generous meals and take a few steps during the break to promote digestion and limit fatigue and the feeling of heavy legs”, concludes the expert.
