We spend time working on our complexion, we put on our favorite lipstick, we adjust our frames… and a few hours later, when we take off our glasses, two light marks cross the bridge of our nose. For many glasses wearers, these glasses marks have become an everyday beauty nightmare.
Faced with this very concrete problem, social networks have taken up the subject. A minimalist tip, seen in tutorials then relayed by the beauty media, promises to prevent these brands from damaging the complexion’s makeup. It only requires a little concealer and powder, but is a real game changer. Everything depends on a few millimeters of skin.
Why do your glasses damage your complexion makeup so much?
Between the frame and the skin, it’s all about pressure, heat and material. The bridge and sides of the nose, sometimes even the tops of the cheekbones, support the weight of the glasses for hours. When you put on a generous layer of foundation, the product compresses, moves and ends up sticking to the pads.
Result: the makeup wears off more quickly in this specific area, leaving these two lighter imprints that stand out as soon as you take off your glasses. The effect is even more visible in summer, with sweat and sunscreen under foundation, or after a long day at the office.
The viral trick of the micro-shield layer on the nose
The procedure starts once the complexion is finished. First you put your glasses on for a few seconds, then you take them off to spot future marks. On these small areas, add a micro-layer of foundation or concealer by tapping with your finger or sponge, exactly where the edges of the frame rest.
We then fix this area by sweeping a veil of loose or compact powder, as we would for a concealer. This micro-layer acts like a small cushion: it absorbs pressure, limits transfer and stabilizes the texture. Once the glasses are put on, nothing is visible; a few hours later, the nose remains uniform.
Professional variants to avoid glasses marks
For very busy days, other tips complete this shield. TikTok videos, for example, show frames whose pads have been cleaned and then powdered with a thin layer of translucent powder, or even a little talcum powder, to absorb sebum directly at the source. Makeup artist Jamie Greenberg also recommends an eyeshadow primer, powder and then a setting spray on the contact areas.
On a daily basis, everyone can choose the simplest formula:
- The micro-shield layer on the nose, ideal if you wear your glasses all day;
- The powdered frame, useful for very oily or sensitive skin where you prefer to avoid too much material;
- The light version, with very little foundation on the nose and the excess removed with a slightly damp sponge.
