As wish lists fill up for December 31, the French are preparing to question their relationship with the body, time and others. The 15th Sport-Health Barometer of the French Federation of Physical Education and Voluntary Gymnastics, carried out with Ipsos bva, measures these desires for 2026. This annual survey, conducted among 2,000 people representative of the French population aged 16 and over, confirms that sport remains central to the good resolutions for 2026. And not only… The detailed results draw a precise map of the priorities of French.
Sport still in the lead, but less alone
First lesson, the desire to exercise more remains at the top of the list. Nearly a third of French people, or 31%, say they want to move more in 2026, even if this score falls by 3 points compared to last year. Among those under 60, this intention remains the number 1 resolution. For those 60 and over, it comes in second place.
Just behind, the desire to spend more time with family and friends reached 29% of responses, or 6 points more than in 2025. Among those aged 60 and over, this shared time becomes the number 1 resolution, cited by 37%, while only 23% of those under 35 chose it. At the same time, 26% of those surveyed plan to reserve real moments of relaxation, the highest since 2018.

More love and more self-care on the program
In this top trio, the most love comes through more present bonds with family and friends, but also through shared breaks. For seniors, this time with loved ones clearly comes before the rest, while younger people remain more focused on physical activity. This hierarchy highlights increased attention to social relationships.
Another signal, taking care of yourself enters the top 5 this year, cited by 22% of French people. 26% of women mention it, and among those under 35, this resolution comes in second place with 25%. Meanwhile, more traditional goals are declining: sleeping better (19%), eating a more balanced diet (18%), spending less time in front of screens (17%), following a diet (9%) or limiting tobacco and alcohol (8% and 5%).
Behind these figures, the barometer reveals a more profound evolution of expectations. In 2026, the French are no longer just looking to exercise, but to better spend their time, their bodies and their relationships. A discreet, but revealing, shift towards resolutions towards less performance and more humanity, where well-being is no longer measured only in efforts, but also in connections and breathing.
