Holidays: the French prefer to leave with their ex ... rather than their boss!
A study conducted with 9,000 travelers worldwide (including 1,000 French) reveals unexpected preferences when it comes to choosing a vacation companion. Spoiler: the ex does not put off as much as a hierarchical superior! Decryption of a classification as revealing as fun.

Choosing your traveling companion is often deciding on the success – or fiasco – of your vacation. And in this game, the French are not lacking in imagination, according to a recent investigation.

Better a break than a meeting

Do you think nothing can be more annoying than a tête-à-tête with your ex on a dream beach? Think again. According to the Opodo survey, the French are more likely to consider going on vacation with an old partner only with their boss. The latter arrive at the bottom of the ranking of the most desirable travel companions, right next to it … from the in-laws.

Love and family, great winners of the top 3

Fortunately, everything is not black in the painting of preferences (then fortunately, the choice “ex or boss” remains unlikely!). At the top of the ES people’s records with whom to travel: half (62 %), the nearby family (43 %) and friends (26 %). And for the youngest (18-24 years old), it’s clearly the team Holidays between friends who prevails.

But beware: even between relatives, tensions can arise. One in three French people has already had a vacation argument, most often because of the budget (32 %), activities (20 %) or … fatigue (17 %). A real obstacle course to avoid the nerve crisis at the airport or in targeted rental. .

Alone, as a couple, or … with a dog?

Others no longer ask the question and make the simplest choice: 10 % of French people prefer to travel in solo simply. A modest figure compared to the Germans (15 %), but which reveals an increasing appetite for total freedom. In contrast, others dare unexpected companions: children, grandparents, colleagues … or even pets.

So, even if you choose, who are you going with? Your ex, your dog … or your boss? The answer is not too debated.
