Why these reminders?
These recalls are mainly motivated by lack of labeling : the products did not display the correct use-by date (DLC) or the labeling was incomplete. This prevents the consumer from judging the freshness or expiration date, which constitutes a breach of regulations.
Risks for the consumer
Even if, in these cases, the official reason does not indicate microbiological or chemical contamination, the absence or error of DLC can pose a real health safety risk. A product thought to still be edible could actually be expired — promoting bacterial growth or product deterioration, which can lead to food poisoning or infections.
What should you do if you have one of these products?
- Do not consume especially not recalled batches;
- Return the product to your sales store to obtain a refund ;
- Keep the package/label for easy identification of the lot;
- If in doubt or if you have symptoms after consumption, consult a health professional, especially if you are vulnerable (elderly, immunocompromised, pregnant woman, child).
