Prepare your car for the holidays: what to check before leaving
Before taking the holiday route, it is essential to check the general condition of your vehicle to avoid any unpleasant surprises on your route. It is indeed necessary to “ensure the proper functioning of many important elements, such as brakes, headlights, tires or even wipers. It is therefore essential to make a real check-up of your car to be able to leave the peace of mind.

Control everything that can be

First, make sure to control the levels of all liquids (oil, brake, cooling, windshield washer). Ditto for lights (headlights and indicators). It should also be ensured that the windshield has no impact, because it could crack during the journey. If in doubt, it is also advisable to clean or, if necessary, to change the filters and to check certain elements such as brake pads or candles. If in doubt, do not hesitate to call on a professional a few days before leaving.

Tire

For everyone’s safety, it is also necessary to check the tire pressure (and the spare wheel). For long journeys, it is desirable to inflate your tires to a pressure slightly higher than normal. It is also necessary to control their wear, using the witnesses directly placed on it, small rubber ridges located in the main grooves of the tire. If they are too worn, do not hesitate to change it.

Sun from the sun

If everything is going well, the sun should shine on the road on the day of the big departure. Also, it is essential to think about taking glasses, for yourself and your passengers, but also of the solar cream. During breaks, you also have to think about protecting the car when you stop with a sun visor so that the cabin air is not suffocating and the burning steering wheel. Before leaving, it is also better to control the proper functioning of air conditioning.

Properly distribute your luggage

Who says vacation obviously says luggage. It is therefore probably the time of the year when the vehicle will be subject to a large load. It is therefore important to distribute the weight well in order to avoid an imbalance which could cause tire wear, especially at the rear. This is why the roof box can be useful sometimes. Finally, the bikes must be perfectly fixed, on the roof or at the rear, taking care not to hide the license plate, the lights and the indicators.
