This visual guide allows you to categorize the different emotions and thus better understand them. The result is a better understanding of oneself and what one experiences. Identify and name complex emotions

The emotion wheel allows us to identify and name a wide range of emotions, thus facilitating the understanding of our inner states. We learn, for example, to distinguish despair from melancholy, regret from nostalgia, joy from euphoria. By becoming familiar with the richness of emotions present on this wheel, we develop a better ability to perceive nuances in what we feel. For example, when comforting a friend after a breakup, the wheel can help you recognize that their sadness and frustration require empathetic support rather than practical advice;
  • Validation of emotions: recognize the legitimacy of the other’s feelings, even if you do not share their point of view. Avoid minimizing or dismissing their emotions. Instead, use phrases like: “I understand you feel this way” or “Under the circumstances, it’s understandable”;
  • Looking for common points: identify shared emotional experiences to create connections. When appropriate, share your own feelings and experiences, showing vulnerability and openness. Relationships are strengthened through exchanges.
