Add kale to your pasta, rice or burrito: this is the advice that is currently a hit on TikTok, shared by American singer Aïcha Fall. A simple tip which consists of slipping a few leaves of kale into each of your meals. Explanations.
“Cut it with kale”, the new trick that is panicking TikTok
Aïcha Fall does not consider herself a nutrition influencer – yet her video has already been viewed millions of times. In front of the camera, the singer shared one of her nutrition secrets, adopted after the diagnosis of her autoimmune disease: systematically adding kale to her meals.
To stay healthy, “you don’t need to completely change your diet”explains Aïcha Fall. According to her, adding a few leaves of kale already makes all the difference in a dish… (and this, without changing the recipe).
To prepare this cabbage, she says she lightly heats the leaves, cuts them into small pieces using scissors, then mixes them into an already prepared dish. Rice, pasta, curry, burrito or leftovers from the day before: anything goes.
A great way to eat more vegetables!
Why is kale so beneficial for your health?
If kale is so popular, it’s no coincidence! This vegetable from the cruciferous family (like broccoli or cauliflower) is particularly rich in fiber. A valuable nutrient for transit, satiety and blood sugar regulation.
It also provides large amounts of vitamin C and beta-carotene, two essential nutrients. Kale also stands out for its richness in vitamin K, important for bone health and blood clotting.
Another little-known advantage of this cabbage: its content of lutein and zeaxanthin, two protective pigments for the eyes, as well as polyphenols and flavonoids, which help protect cells against oxidative stress.
Finally, kale concentrates a significant quantity of micronutrients for very few calories. Practical when watching your figure.
Adding it regularly to your plate therefore appears to be an excellent tip: kale improves the composition of our meals without disrupting all our cooking habits.
How to easily integrate it into your meals?
Kale is often criticized for its bitterness and rather hard texture when eaten raw. The good news? Fortunately, it is possible to make it more pleasant.
The leaves can be “massaged” with a little olive oil before being eaten in salad. They can also be quickly returned to the pan or added to a soup, curry or omelette.
For her part, singer Aïcha Fall suggests chopping it finely to make it easier to incorporate.
And to make the most of its nutrients, don’t forget to combine it with a source of good quality fat (olive oil, avocado, some oilseeds, etc.). This combination actually promotes the absorption of some of its antioxidants present in the leaves.
