This simple trick turns a smoothie into 3 different desserts (and completely changes the way you eat fruit)
Tired of always making the same smoothie? On Instagram, dietician Jade Grenier-Roy explains how to transform it into three totally different preparations by simply playing with the textures.

We often associate dietary variety with the discovery of new foods. However, according to dietitian Jade Grenier-Roy, there are many other ways to transform your daily routine, starting with… having fun with textures.

In a video published on Instagram, the specialist shares three very simple ways to transform a classic smoothie into 3 decidedly gourmet desserts.

Why is varying textures as important as varying flavors?

When we talk about “food variety”, we spontaneously think of the flavors, colors or foods that we put on our plate. However, another parameter strongly influences our pleasure in eating…

“We often think of taste when we talk about variety, but texture can also be explored”recalls Jade Grenier-Roy.

By simply changing the amount of liquid used in your smoothie (or the way it is served), you can bring a breath of fresh air without disrupting your habits.

The 3 smoothie variations to adopt this summer

The smoothie bowl: a thicker and satiating texture

First option proposed by the dietitian: the smoothie bowl.

To obtain a denser texture than that of a classic smoothie, you simply need to reduce the quantity of liquid used in your blender. We then obtain a smoothie thick enough to be enjoyed with a spoon.

Different toppings can then be added to this bowl, such as fresh fruit, nuts or seeds (chia seeds, flax seeds…).

The classic smoothie: the easy-to-go version

The second version is the one that everyone knows: the drinking smoothie. To obtain it, simply increase the quantity of liquid.

“Water, juice, milk, everything goes!”specifies the specialist.

This option makes it possible to obtain a drink that is easy to take away and consume for breakfast or after a sports session.

The frozen smoothie: an original idea for small appetites

Last tip from the dietician: transform your smoothie into an “ice lolly”. And to do this, there’s nothing rocket science: once the preparation has been made (water + fruit or milk + fruit or yogurt + fruit), simply pour it into suitable molds before placing it in the freezer.

We then obtain a refreshing, tasty and healthy ice cream.

“It is perfect for small appetites or as an accompaniment”underlines Jade Grenier-Roy.

Very simple tips, but which can make a difference on a daily basis when you feel like you always eat the same thing.

Yes to smoothies… but in moderation!

For nutritionist Raphaël Gruman, smoothies are a good alternative to pressed fruit juices, because they are slightly less sweet, but also more filling (they contain much more fiber and pulp). You can also include different health-promoting ingredients such as seeds, dairy products and proteins.

On the other hand, since they contain fructose (the natural sugar from fruit), they remain relatively high in calories (200-400 calories). “We must therefore see the smoothie as a pleasure and not as an everyday drink.” he recalls.
