Every summer, mosquitoes come back to bite us… and sometimes even ruin our evenings. Indeed, despite the use of repellent sprays, they always end up devouring us. To try to remedy this, the Marseille brand Cacatoès has launched anti-mosquito sandals with a repellent active ingredient. Enough to finally go out for a walk in complete peace!
Sandals designed to repel mosquitoes
If these sandals have been getting so much attention since their release, it’s because they contain formidable anti-mosquito technology: lemon eucalyptus and IR3535 (ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate), a transparent and odorless repellent already used in many countries (certified by the WHO).
Discreet substances (because they are directly injected into the material of the sandal), but effective: they offer up to 98.40% protection against bites, according to laboratory tests.
“Compared to bare feet, Mosquitoès sandals almost completely reduce poses and bites, even in heavily infested environments“, confirms the brand.
The other advantage of this anti-mosquito technology? It is water and heat resistant and lasts over time (it does not evaporate, even after numerous uses).
The brand’s objective is simple: to offer French people practical everyday protection, without the need to apply spray to their feet several times a day. Arguments that hit the mark, as summer approaches and mosquitoes are more and more present in certain regions.
Where to buy them?
Mosquitoès sandals are available in pharmacies and drugstores. Water-resistant, heat-resistant and machine washable, they are suitable for both adults and children.
A practical solution, but which does not replace basic gestures
Even if this innovation can save your feet this summer, it does not dispense with the essential reflexes to protect yourself from mosquitoes (because no solution, on its own, guarantees total protection, especially in very exposed areas!).
Doctors and health authorities particularly point out the importance of eliminating stagnant water around homes, where mosquitoes lay their eggs: cups under flower pots, watering cans left outside, blocked gutters, etc.
In the evening, it is also better to wear long, covering clothing, particularly at times when mosquitoes are most active.
In the event of high exposure to mosquitoes (risk areas, travel, etc.), the use of a suitable repellent is also recommended.
