Bricanyl

The Bricanyl Inhaler contains a beta adrenergic agonist called terbutaline. Beta adrenergic agonists are a group of medicines that are commonly used to relax the muscles of the respiratory tract. This is a highly effective way of dealing with sudden wheezing or breathlessness caused by chronic respiratory conditions such as COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and asthma.

As a bronchodilator that widens or dilates the airways, terbutalin can also be ingested in tablet or syrup form.

Terbutaline sulfate is the primary acting ingredient of Bricanyl. As a short-acting beta 2 adrenergic agonist, terbutaline directly affects the beta 2 receptors on the lungs. In doing so, it prompts the muscles in the patient’s airways to loosen, which makes it easier for the air to enter and leave the lungs.

Because of these traits, Bricanyl is highly effective when it comes to treating conditions that cause the patient’s airways to tighten up, resulting in sudden breathlessness (for example, asthma and COPD). 

One of the main strengths of the Bricanyl Inhaler is its fast-acting nature. By inhaling the terbutaline straight into the lungs, the medication is delivered right where it’s needed the most. What’s more, inhaling the terbutaline rather than taking it as a tablet or a syrup heavily reduces the possibility of the patient experiencing negative side effects.

The Bricanyl Inhaler acts very quickly and remains effective for up to 6 hours after taking a dose. This makes it particularly helpful when administered prior to exercising or going somewhere where you may be exposed to allergy-inducing dust or pollen.

Due to being inhaled rather than taken orally, the Bricanyl Inhaler minimizes medicine absorption into the bloodstream. This makes it ideal for pregnant or breastfeeding women, as very little terbutaline makes its way into the breastmilk and is therefore highly unlikely to have an adverse effect on the nursing baby.

Using the Bricanyl Inhaler correctly is crucial in order to ensure the correct dose is administered. Carefully read through the instructions in the leaflet that comes prepackaged with the Inhaler. When in doubt, consult your doctor and have them instruct you on how to properly use the Bricanyl Inhaler.

Bricanyl Turbohaler: how to use:

• Step #1: Turn the blue grip at the base as far as it can go in a single direction.
• Step #2: Turn it back all the way in the other direction.
• Step #3: You’ll hear a click. This indicates that the Inhaler is ready to be used.
• Step #4: Let all the air out of your lungs, place the mouthpiece between your lips, and take a deep breath out of the inhaler.
• Step #5: To keep excess medicine from sticking to your tongue and the inside of your mouth (this can cause negative side effects), brush your teeth or wash your mouth with water after using the Bricanyl Inhaler.

Bricanyl should be inhaled on a per-need basis, such as prior to being exposed to allergens or when you experience sudden wheezing. A single inhalation from the Bricanyl Inhaler remains effective for as many as 6 hours. As a result, you should never use the Inhaler more than 4 times in a single day.
