Evorel Conti

Evorel Conti is a continuous combined Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) that contains both oestrogen (estradiol) and progestogen (norethisterone) hormones. This medicine comes in a patch, which treats the showing signs of menopause.

What Is Evorel Conti Patches for?

These combined HRT patches are used to treat the following:

Symptoms of menopause, including hot flushes, night sweats or mood swings, vaginal dryness or itching, for women who have not had their natural period for 18 months

Osteoporosis prevention if other medicines for the disease have not worked.

When you use Evorel Conti patches, both of the hormones it contains are released at the same time. What the patches do is replace the oestrogen released from the ovaries to restore its natural balance and manage the symptoms of menopause. 

However, when you take medicines with oestrogen, the lining of your womb thickens; this means you will need a progestogen hormone (which Evorel Conti contains) to shed the lining. The result of this process is occasional bleeding or spotting for the first few months until your body gets used to the treatment.

When your reproductive system goes into menopause, you experience different symptoms that affect your whole body and your daily life. The symptoms include hot flashes, irregular menstrual cycle, night sweats, weight gain, hair thinning and mood changes. You can treat or manage these symptoms with the help of Evorel Conti, which replenishes your natural oestrogen levels.

Tell your doctor if you have or have had any of the following condition before starting on Evorel Conti:

• Breast cancer or may have it
• Cancer sensitive to oestrogens
• Any unexplained vaginal bleeding
• Excessive womb lining thickening
• A blood clot in a vein
• A blood clotting disorder
• A disease due to arterial blood clotting
• Liver disease
• Porphyria
• Allergic to estradiol or norethisterone, or any of Emorel Conti’s ingredients

Tell your doctor if you have or have had any of the following conditions as it may affect your prescription:

• Fibroids inside the womb
• Endometriosis
• High risk of developing blood clots
• High risk of oestrogen-sensitive cancer
• High blood pressure
• Liver disorder
• Diabetes
• Gallstones
• Migraines or severe headaches
• Organ-affecting immune system disease
• Epilepsy
• Asthma
• Eardrum- and hearing-affecting disease
• Severely high level of fat in your blood
• Cardiac or kidney problem-induced fluid retention

The following medicines may affect or be affected by Evorel. If you are using any of the following, inform your doctor beforehand:

• Epilepsy medicines
• Medicines for tuberculosis
• HIV infection treatments
• Herbal remedies contain St John’s Wort
• Anti-infective medicines

If you are in need of a medical operation, advise your doctor that you are under HRT treatment; you may need to stop using Evorel Conti for four to six weeks prior to the operation. Also, this treatment may affect blood and urine test results; you should inform your attending medical professional that you’re using Evorel Conti before the tests.

Additionally, you should not use this medication if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or might become pregnant, or breastfeeding. This treatment is for women who are postmenopausal only.
