It’s hard to imagine a Christmas aperitif without these little crispy golden slices or these soft pancakes that accompany salmon, taramasalata or foie gras. But behind their apparent simplicity sometimes hide recipes that are too fatty or full of additives.
According to Yuka, some industrial brands still abuse flavor enhancers, preservatives and hydrogenated fats. The good news? Several references stand out from the crowd and display a much more balanced nutritional profile.
Aperitif toasts: the best students in the department
The Yuka application screened several flagship products from supermarkets and revealed its results in a widely followed Instagram video. First observation: not all toasts are equal.
At the top of the ranking, the Pasquier country aperitif toast (78/100).
They appeal as much for their texture as for their composition. Their salt content remains reasonable and no controversial additives have been detected. An ideal choice to accompany foie gras, fish rillettes or fresh cheese.
Another good surprise, the Jacquet natural round toasts (66/100)a little more neutral in taste but just as practical. Their soft texture makes them perfect for pairing with smoked salmon or fish roe.
According to Yuka, these products obtain the famous green note, synonymous with a balance between taste pleasure and nutritional quality.
Blinis: soft, organic and well-rated
On the blini side, certain references also display excellent results. THE Bio Bleud organic blinis obtain a score of 79/100thanks to a simple recipe, without preservatives or additives, and a controlled salt content.
In the same vein, several products sold in supermarkets stand out with a score of 72/100:
- the 16 Deluxe blinis;
- the 16 mini blini appetizers by Gourmet Finest Cuisine;
- and the 16 mini Odyssey blinis.
So many practical options to serve hot or cold, as long as you don’t overdo it.
For purists, nothing replaces the homemade version. By mixing flour, milk, eggs and yeast, it is possible to prepare light, fluffy, additive-free blinis in just a few minutes. A healthier and often tastier alternative.
Pleasure, balance and moderation on the holiday menu
Because the holidays are above all a time for sharing, there is no point banishing these essential aperitifs. The secret is to choose better quality products, vary the toppings and keep an eye on the quantities.
In other words, nothing prevents you from fully enjoying your aperitifs: all it takes is a little discernment to combine pleasure and health… even during the holidays.
