Does the key to losing weight lie in eating at a regular time? Our dietitian's opinion
According to American dietician Natalie Rizzo, the key to losing weight sustainably and without frustration is quite simple: you just need to eat a balanced diet at regular intervals. Is it really that simple? What does our expert, dietitian Alexandra Murcier, think? Here is his response.

Among your good resolutions for 2025 (if you make any!) may include losing weight sustainably. To achieve this goal, a famous New York dietitian, Natalie Rizzo, shares her tip.

Eat regularly and in a balanced way

According to this expert, instead of leaving long periods of time between your meals, which then leads to eating too much and too quickly, you should instead eat regularly in a balanced way. It is by adopting this rhythm that we would avoid cravings and drops in blood sugar, which would push us to eat too much. How to adopt this routine? Quite simply by eating balanced meals and snacks.

A lifestyle that focuses on regularity

Eating regularly helps keep your metabolism active and efficient. This would therefore allow you to burn more calories. But is it that simple? To find out, we asked our expert, dietician Alexandra Murcier, who answered the question straight away. “It’s actually a little more complicated than that” she begins by qualifying. “Eating regularly (at a more or less fixed time, especially avoiding skipping meals) does indeed help you lose weight, but that’s not everything!

“There is no magic recipe that works for everyone”

Alexandra Murcier first of all agrees with Natalie Rizzo’s comments. “Meals must be balanced, with sufficient protein intake.” she advises. Then, if possible, “it is important to adopt a diet with a low glycemic index to avoid excessive variations in blood sugar“. For what ? “Because they tend to cause weight gain“, says our expert.

Finally, she recommends establishing “a slight calorie deficit, but not too significant because otherwise it will block weight loss“.

After these first tips, she also welcomes the “behavioral approach” advocated by Natalie Rizzo. “Eating at a fixed time has its benefits, as does eating slowly, or working on satiety: this will help with weight loss.“. Before reminding however: “Be careful, there is no magic recipe or tip that would work with everyone: you have to work on all the parameters and personalize the support“.
