
For half a century, the French Cardiology Federation (FFC) has mobilized France with the courses of the heart, the largest prevention-health operation on the public highway. In 2025, this anniversary edition took on an unprecedented magnitude to fight against a constant progression scourge: sedentary lifestyle.
Historical mobilization for a major public health issue
Since 1975, heart courses have been crisscrossing France to raise awareness of the prevention of cardiovascular disease. Organized by the French Cardiology Federation with the support of its regional antennas and heart and health clubs, this action brings together hundreds of thousands of participants each year around workshops, screening and physical activities.
In 2024, nearly 476,000 people took part in the event in more than 900 cities. And to celebrate its 50th anniversary, the 2025 edition promises to be even more ambitious with more than 900 meetings scheduled from April 2 to June 30, from the start given in Toulouse.
In 2025, moving became vital: sedentary lifestyle
The observation is alarming: 40 % of French people do not move enough, according to Public Health France. Young people are not spared, especially girls. The French Cardiology Federation is sounding the alarm: inaction kills, and it is urgent to anchor the movement in our habits.
“The absence of movement characterizes a sedentary behavior against which it is possible to act daily” recalls Professor Gérard Helft, president of the FFC. To respond to this emergency, the courses of the heart offer activities accessible to everyone, advice from health professionals, and a friendly and motivating atmosphere to place pleasure at the heart of physical activity.
Innovate to raise awareness: from the field to the virtual
2025 also marks the arrival of new playful animations like the playground, a series of interactive games to learn while having fun: ball pool, giant Memory, informative totems … enough to captivate young and old while moving.
Another novelty: an unprecedented partnership with the French League of Legends (LFL) League, targeting video game followers often not very physically active. Through this alliance, the FFC shows that it is possible to reconcile digital passion and hygiene of life.
In this symbolic year, the FFC launches the strong message: “Your heart is in motion, and you? “ Walking, dancing, playing, jumping … whatever the means, as long as you move! And to motivate even more French: 500 pairs of collector’s sneakers are to be won.
