Here is the bolognese to choose on the shelves according to 60 million consumers (and it is at a low price)
In the French shopping basket, Bolognese sauce is a basic for lazy evenings. You still need to know how to choose the right product with the right ingredients. 60 million consumers have found the economical and nutritious reference.

Sometimes all it takes is a single ingredient or sauce to transform an entire dish. This is the case with Bolognese sauce, which is opened to enhance a pasta dish. But which reference to choose from the vast choice on the shelves? 60 million consumers recently studied 10 sauces and gave their preference.

An organic sauce that stands out

Ingredients, quality of meat, salt level… everything has been scrutinized by our favorite brands. Comparison result:
Carrefour Bio bolognese sauce comes in well ahead. Offered in a 200 g format for only €1.59, it obtains the best score from the panel with 17.3/20. A high score which can be explained by a composition considered very satisfactory by the experts.

Its main advantage lies in its organic label, which ensures the absence of synthetic pesticides. A point far from trivial, since certain competing sauces analyzed contained up to several chemical residues, including even a banned substance. The quality of the meat was also checked: the presence of beef conforms to what is advertised, and it is of French origin.

Nutritionally, the results are also positive. The sauce remains moderate in salt (0.7 g) and sugars (3.8 g), making it a balanced option for a quick meal. The only small reservation noted by the magazine: the addition of potato starch, which is harmless to health, but likely to serve as a thickening agent and cause a slight increase in blood sugar levels in certain people.

Sauces to avoid according to the classification

If none of the sauces tested falls below average, a more honorable performance than that of natural tomato or basil sauces, certain references nevertheless bring up the rear of the ranking. Three products stand out with a composition considered less qualitative:

  • Zapetti pure beef Bolognese sauce, with a score of 11.2/20;
  • Auchan beef and pork Bolognese tomato sauce, rated 12.7/20;
  • Panzani pork and beef Bolognese sauce, which gets 12.8/20.

Auchan and Panzani sauces mainly suffer from excess salt and added sugars. As for the Zapetti reference, it finds itself in last position due to the presence of pesticide residues considered to be of concern, which heavily penalizes its final score.

Which is a good reminder: even for a product as banal as a Bolognese sauce, taking a few seconds to read the label can make all the difference, both for your health and for your wallet.
