Match more, and better! Tinder launches its AI questionnaire to get to know you better before you swipe
Tinder is innovating in 2026 with a questionnaire on emotional intelligence, designed to help its users better understand each other before matching. This initiative, in collaboration with Génération QE, aims to improve online relationships.

At the dawn of 2026, Tinder is changing the dating game in France and invites its members to understand each other before even matching. From January to March 2026, the application is launching a unique interactive questionnaire devoted to emotional intelligence, designed in collaboration with Génération QE and accessible directly in the application. Far from being a gimmick, this initiative responds to a reality observed by Tinder: many members wonder after a match why “it doesn’t stick”.

Tinder, emotional intelligence at the heart of dating

Emotional intelligence is defined as the ability to recognize, understand and regulate one’s emotions while interacting with empathy. For a hyperconnected and constantly stimulated generation, it acts as a true inner compass for navigating feelings and relationships.

Generation QE data, from a study carried out among 8,690 French participants, show that less than 1% reach an “expert” level of emotional intelligence with an EQg score ≥ 130. The study also reveals that the differences between girls and boys only appear from the age of 12, but that their perception varies greatly: boys tend to overestimate their emotional intelligence, while girls tend to underestimate it.

More broadly, one in two people have difficulty correctly identifying what they feel, and 15% have alexithymia, difficulty recognizing or expressing their emotions. Yet developing these skills from an early age could increase the average emotional quotient by 10%, leading to an estimated 10% reduction in associated healthcare costs. And in the context of meetings, this is all the more useful than the annual report Year in Swipe shows that emotional intelligence has become the most frequently mentioned topic in the bios of dating app users, revealing a strong expectation of more conscious and balanced relationships.

An introspective questionnaire to get to know yourself better

Designed by Génération QE, the new questionnaire offered by Tinder invites each member in France to explore their emotional quotient through interactive and caring questions. The experience is based on scenarios close to daily life and dating, without addressing intrusive subjects, to allow everyone to reflect on their emotional reactions in complete freedom.

The questionnaire assesses three key dimensions: the ability to identify, understand and regulate one’s emotions to better adapt to relational situations. At the end, each user receives a private emotional profile – “Grow your EQ”, “Build your EQ” or “Cultivate your EQ”. These profiles are only visible to the user and are never shared with matches or displayed on the Tinder profile.

By placing emotional intelligence at the center of the dating experience, Tinder marks a turning point in the way it supports relationships. With this questionnaire accessible to all members in France at the beginning of 2026, the application relies on self-knowledge as a starting point, even before the first match. Because the better we know each other, the better the relationship will be!
