Recall of L’Étal du Boucher ground beef sold at Lidl contaminated with salmonella

Food alert: contaminated chopped steaks to E. coli emergency removed
Consumers who have recently purchased ground beef 15% fat 400 g from the L’Étal du Boucher brand should be careful. This product, sold in Lidl supermarkets in several French departments, has been the subject of a consumer recall since October 17, 2025. The cause: the presence of Salmonella spp, bacteria responsible for salmonellosis, a food infection that can cause severe gastrointestinal disorders.

THE product recall is initiated as voluntary by Lidl. It concerns a single batch, identified after internal controls. The product was released on October 16, 2025 onlyin certain discount brand stores.

What are the health risks?

Products contaminated with Salmonella spp. can cause food poisoning. The most common symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, fever And headache appearing between 6 and 72 hours after ingestion. These symptoms can be particularly serious in young children, elderly people, pregnant women Or immunocompromised people.

The authorities specify that, if the ground beef has been cooked through (≥65°C)the bacteria is destroyed and the risk of infection disappears. On the other hand, eating undercooked or raw meat can lead to infection.

People experiencing symptoms after consumption are invited to consult their doctor specifying the consumption of the product. If there are no symptoms after 7 days, there is no need to worry.

Customers who have purchased this product are requested to no longer consume it and of bring it back to their Lidl store to obtain a full refundeven without a receipt.
