What is Anusol Cream?

If you are experiencing minor pain, swelling, itching, and discomfort due to haemorrhoids and other anorectal conditions, like anal fissures, you should Anusol Cream. This medicated cream contains a corticosteroid called hydrocortisone, which is used as anti-inflammatory and antipruritic treatments. It is a topical water-washable cream with hydrocortisone 2.5%.

Anusol Cream, Anusol Ointment and Anusol Suppositories

All these medications are used to treat the symptoms of haemorrhoids and other anorectal conditions. The only differences between the three are their forms and application methods. While Anusol Cream and Ointment can be applied externally, the Anusol suppository is only applied internally by physically inserting it the anus. However, Anusol can also be applied internally with its applicator or nozzle.

How does Anusol Cream work?

Since hydrocortisone is an anti-inflammatory and antipruritic, Anusol HC relieves swelling, itching, and discomfort brought by either external or internal haemorrhoids, and other anorectal problems.

Benefits of using Anusol Cream

When you use Anusol Cream, you will experience relief from the painful and bothersome symptoms of haemorrhoids and other conditions in the anal area. Plus, this form of medication offers no mess and easy application.

How to use Anusol Cream?

You should use this medication as prescribed by your doctor. It will also be advantageous to read the enclosed patient information leaflet so that you can understand how this medicine works.

Before applying the cream, prep the application area first by cleaning it with mild soap and water, rinse it thoroughly, and pat it dry. Then, you can apply the cream using the applicator tip or nozzle or as directed by your doctor.

Fill the applicator with the Anusol cream as directed. Once it has the right amount of product in it, gently insert it inside the anus and ensure to apply the cream on the anal opening thoroughly. Never use your finger or other objects as the application, and never insert them inside your anus. You should only insert the applicator at Ā½ to 1 inch inside the anus. After use, discard the single-use tube and applicator immediately.

On the other hand, if you are using this medication to treat your external haemorrhoid symptoms, you can use your finger during the application process. Make sure to apply only a small amount or as instructed by your doctor on the affected area, ensuring that you apply it gently.

Do not cover the affected area with a single-use tube and applicator after application unless otherwise advised by your doctor. Although doing so may increase the speed with which the skin absorbs the medicine, it also increases the risk of developing side effects. Again, always follow the directions provided by your doctor.

Furthermore, apply proper hygiene practices by washing your hands immediately after applying the cream. Be careful as to not apply the cream to your eyes, nose, ears, or mouth. However, when you accidentally apply it to the said areas, rinse it immediately with clean water.

It is recommended to use this treatment two to four times a day and after each bowel movement, or as prescribed by your doctor. You will reap the most benefits if you use this product regularly. Also, it is best to use this medication at approximately the same time every day so that you donā€™t forget to apply it.

Always follow your doctorā€™s instructions; the excessive or more frequent or longer use of this medication than what was prescribed can cause serious side effects. Also, if you want to stop using Anusol cream or decrease your dose, do so with the advice of your doctor. Your conditions may worsen if you abruptly cease to use it or decrease its dose.

If you have not seen any improvements or if your condition gets worse after one to two weeks of using this product, notify your doctor, and seek medical advice or alternatives.
