Christmas bonus 2025: here are the amounts, payment dates and why some will wait until 2026
The 2025 Christmas bonus, valuable assistance for many low-income households, will soon be paid. Find out the amounts, beneficiaries and payment dates of this exceptional allowance.

For many low-income households, the 2025 Christmas bonus remains a highly anticipated event to take a breather at the end of the year. Established in 1998, this exceptional state aid is paid by the Family Allowance Fund (CAF), the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) or France Travail, and targets more than 2 million households with modest incomes. This year again, its payment depends on your situation in November and December 2025, and the amount varies depending on the allowance received and the composition of your household. Who will receive what, and above all on what date will the money arrive in the bank account?

Christmas bonus 2025: who can receive it this year?

To benefit from the Christmas bonus in 2025, you must have received one of the following aids in November 2025 and/or December 2025: RSA, ASS (Specific Solidarity Allowance) or AER (Retirement Equivalent Allowance). Beneficiaries of the base RSA who combine with the activity bonus may also be entitled to it, provided that the household resources do not exceed the amount of the base RSA corresponding to the composition of the family. Certain people in training or starting a business attached to the ASS, or even benefiting from training remuneration paid by France Travail, can also receive the bonus in well-regulated cases.

On the other hand, several schemes remain excluded: beneficiaries of the Return to Employment Allowance (ARE), those who only receive the activity bonus, recipients of the Allowance for Disabled Adults (AAH) alone or of the minimum old age cannot claim this assistance. Parental leave is also not one of the situations giving entitlement to the bonus. Pregnancy does not modify rights: the child is only taken into account from birth.

Amount of the 2025 Christmas bonus: from €152.45 to more than €500

The minimum amount of the 2025 Christmas bonus is set at €152.45. This amount applies to all beneficiaries of ASS, AER or close assistance paid by France Travail, regardless of the number of people in the household. For RSA recipients, the calculation is different: the premium varies according to family situation and the number of dependent children. A single person without children receives €152.45, while a couple without children receives €228.68.

The larger the family, the higher the aid:

For a single person:

  • With a child; €228.68;
  • With two children: €274.41;
  • With three children: €335.39;
  • With four children, it amounts to €396.37;

For a couple:

  • With a child, the premium reaches €274.41;
  • With two children: €320.15;
  • With three children: €381.13;
  • With four children: €442.11;
  • For five children, it can go up to €503.09;

Each additional child adds €60.98 to the premium. In all cases, the Christmas bonus is tax-free and does not have to be declared in the annual income tax return. Please note that a tax household only receives one bonus, with no possibility of combining a CAF or MSA payment with a payment by France Travail.

Payment date for the 2025 Christmas bonus and procedures to know

Payment of the Christmas bonus is automatic: no request or form needs to be completed. For people who benefited from RSA, ASS or AER in November 2025, payment takes place from December 16, 2025, by CAF, MSA or France Travail depending on the organization to which the recipient depends. The transfer generally appears within the following days, the delay then depending on the processing by the bank. For households which open a right to RSA, ASS or AER only in December 2025, the bonus will not be paid until January 2026.

If the sum does not appear in the account a few days after the expected date, it is useful to first check that the allowance was received in November or December 2025, that the RIB is up to date, then to contact the paying agency (CAF, MSA or France Travail) in case of doubt.

The Christmas bonus thus remains a one-off aid, paid only once per household for the year 2025, with allocation rules strictly linked to end-of-year social minimums.
