Dermovate Cream is a very strong corticosteroid medication. It’s used to treat redness, itching or inflammation of the skin. Classified as a topical corticosteroid medication it is used to treat different skin conditions when the treatment to other corticosteroid based medicines and creams did not work.
What is it?
Dermovate cream or ointment, and its main ingredient clobetasol propionate, is a medicine used on the skin to treat swelling, itching and irritation. It is often used to treat skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis.
How does it work?
It contains the active ingredient clobetasol propionate 0.05%, which is a type of medicine called a topical corticosteroid. It’s a strong corticosteroid used to treat various skin problems and chronic skin conditions. It is commonly used after a treatment with normal corticosteroid based medicines gave little or no result.
What is it used for?
The swelling and redness of the skin happens when inflammatory substances are released causing the blood vessels to expand as a response to, most usually, an allergic reaction. Leaving the area red, swollen, itchy and/or painful.
Dermovate Cream works by mitigating the release of inflammatory substances and reducing the effect of an allergic reaction that manifests on the skin. Thus lessening the discomfort caused by inflammation, redness, swellings or iching.
It’s usually used in short courses to treat severe forms of inflammatory skin disorders when weaker corticosteroids have not been effective. It’s used to treat skins disorders such as:
- Eczema
- Lichen planus
- Psoriasis
