Who is behind Newteam Medical?
Leonarda Sanchez: I am the founder of New Team Medical, a start-up that I created in 2011 with a simple but strong conviction: to offer innovative and personalized solutions to women who do not find a suitable response after breast cancer. Over the years, I have developed an expertise as designer and manufacturer of external breast prostheses, thoughts for women who have undergone a mastectomy and who, for various reasons, cannot or wish to benefit from a surgical reconstruction. My goal is to offer them comfort, aesthetic and ergonomics, while taking into account their bodies, their experiences and their care path.
Who is your solution to and what need comes to fill?
Each year in France, 20,000 women are not rebuilt after breast cancer. The reasons are multiple: some have medical contraindications, others make the personal choice not to be rebuilt, and many come up against a lack of solutions adapted to their morphology, especially in the event of very irregular torses or post-operative complications. Our prostheses are aimed at all these women, bringing a tailor-made alternative that takes into account their physical specificities and expectations.
So you offer several ranges of prostheses, can you introduce them to us?
Yes, our solutions are available in three additional ranges.
The first, Air’Avantiis an innovative, hollow and light prosthesis, which can be used the day after the operation. Thanks to its strips, it lets the skin breathe and adapts to the different stages of the care route. It’s a prosthesis multi-purposewhich can be used as well after the intervention, during radiotherapy, at the swimming pool or even during a breast reconstruction by stages. Only one prosthesis, five uses!
The second, Meavantiis a tailor-made external prosthesis for women who have undergone a mastectomy. Thanks to a 3D scanner, we model the patient’s torso to create a perfectly adapted prosthesis, even in the calculation of the weight, which is essential for daily comfort.
Finally, our range Follow -up is addressed to so -called “atypical” cases: very small or very voluminous hats (up to cap), men affected by breast cancer, or patients with strong asymmetries. The common point of all our prostheses: they perfectly marry the body, like a glove.
Are these prostheses reimbursed today?
Not yet, and it’s a real brake for many patients. However, their impact on the quality of life is immense: feeling good in your body, being able to dress, work, play sports, go out is fundamental. We conducted a comparative clinical study in partnership with the Toulouse oncopole, finalized at the end of 2024. The results will allow us to file a file with the High Authority for Health to obtain the reimbursement of our three ranges of prostheses. This is a crucial step to democratize access to our solutions.
What are the next steps for Newteam Medical?
We are entering a high acceleration phase. First, we strengthen our production capacity, especially with the opening of a new site in the Paris region in September. We already have a reception center in Bordeaux, but we want to multiply the contact points and allow distance measures, thanks to innovative technologies. We have referents in Dijon, Aix-en-Provence, Troyes, and others will come. Our ambition is clear: that every woman can quickly benefit from a personalized solution, wherever she is in France.
What is the price of a prosthesis today?
We have always taken care to offer accessible prices. The prosthesis Air’Avantiwith its five uses, is 240 euros including tax. There Meavantitailor-made, is at 750 euros including tax. There Follow -upon the other hand, is the subject of a personalized quote depending on the case. The complexity and volume of prostheses may vary enormously, especially for extreme cups or very irregular torses. But in any case, we work so that these devices remain affordable.
