Do the years take their toll on women’s pleasure? Not really. According to a new survey published by Wyylde, a social network dedicated to the exploration of sexuality, female pleasure does not lose intensity when wrinkles set in. The study highlights a clear observation: far from dying out over time, female pleasure builds, asserts itself and strengthens with age.
Pleasure matures
Contrary to popular belief, female pleasure does not decline over the years. Quite the contrary. According to the study conducted by Wyylde, more than one in two women (55%) believe that their orgasms increase in intensity with age.
This development is explained in particular by a better knowledge of one’s body, greater ease in expressing one’s desires and a sexual maturity which develops over time. Experience thus appears to be a key factor in the construction of a more fulfilled sexuality, freed from certain injunctions or complexes.
Multiple practices to access pleasure
On the “technical” side, the female orgasm does not follow a universal recipe. The study highlights, however, that certain practices are more frequently associated with pleasure. Among them, clitoral stimulation comes first, followed by vaginal penetration and more exploratory practices.
A major lesson also emerges: almost a third of the women questioned say they reach orgasm more easily during masturbation. A figure which recalls the importance of self-discovery and the central role of sexual education in access to pleasure.
In terms of positions, certain sure values remain. Doggy style remains widely popular, ahead of the andromache and the missionary, confirming that pleasure also comes through letting go and bodily comfort. Admit that you didn’t think that about mature women!
Brakes still very present
However, although a majority of women today say they are satisfied with their sex life, the obstacles to orgasm have not completely disappeared. The lack of suitable stimulation, fatigue, relationships considered too rapid or even daily stress are among the most frequently mentioned obstacles.
These elements remind us that pleasure is not limited to a performance, but largely depends on the emotional context, communication within the couple and the ability to take time for oneself and for the other.
The study also highlights a practice that is still very widespread: the simulation of orgasm. More than one in two women admit to having already used it.
The reasons are multiple: to cut short a relationship, not to hurt your partner, or to respond to implicit pressure to perform sexually. This reality underlines the path that remains to be taken to fully free speech around female pleasure and deconstruct certain taboos.
Towards a more assertive sexuality
Through this survey, Wyylde finally paints a portrait of a female sexuality in full evolution. A sexuality which gradually frees itself from norms, is enriched with experience and claims the right to pleasure, at any age.
A strong message, at the time of the end-of-year celebrations: pleasure has no expiration date, and even less age!
