During a concert, a fireworks display or more simply an evening with friends, it is easy to put aside the safety instructions. However, they will save your life in case of crowd or fire movement. Here is the list.
Stay hydrated and avoid heat strokes
“It is essential to drink water regularly, especially in the event of high heat or alcohol consumption. I also recommend identify water points and gray areas when arrival. In the event of symptoms of insolation (dizzy, nausea, dry skin), get cool immediately”, advises Dr Gérald Kierzek.
Make your safety in the crowd
“On arrival on the site, locate the emergency exits. In the event of a crowd movement, do not fight against the flow, but move laterally to remove yourself. Children must remain close to their accompanying people or wear an identification device to avoid any form of separation”, warns the doctor.
Protect your things against theft
“Against theft, prefer a shoulder bag or a wallet belt, and avoid keeping your phone or your valuables in the rear pockets. If possible, do not take precious objects”, advocates the expert.
Be vigilant with alcohol and drugs
“Alternate a glass of alcohol with a glass of water to stay lucid. Do not accept a glass or cigarette from a stranger due to GHB, the drug of rape. In the event of a discomfort, alert a loved one or go to a rescuer”, underlines the medical director of True Medical.
Protect fireworks and burns
“Please always comply with the safety distances indicated. Never pick up an artifice, even if it seems to be off, because it can further explode. In the event of a burn, cool the affected area under water for 15 minutes and consult a healthcare professional if necessary”, says Dr Gérald Kierzek.
Move safely on the return from the evening
“Provide a secure means of transport for your return, such as a taxi, a designated carpooling or public transport. If you have to walk at night, favor well-lit areas and move in a group. Avoid returning alone, especially in case of drunkenness”, warns the doctor.
Notify the risk of fire
“At festivals with campsite, it is strictly forbidden to make wild fires. Also check the anti-fire instructions, using in particular the cigarette terminals provided for this purpose and by identifying extinguishers”, advises the practitioner.
Know how to react in a medical emergency
“As soon as you arrive on the site, take the time to identify the emergency stations, generally reported by flags or panels. In the event of a serious discomfort (suffocation, loss of knowledge), immediately call 15, 18 or 112”, alerts the expert.
Respect the legal framework
“It is forbidden to sell alcohol to minors, because this simple gesture can lead to sanctions for the organizer. Alcohol consumption is also prohibited in certain public places, such as beaches or parks, according to local regulations”, recalls the doctor.
Notify your loved ones
“Before going out, inform a loved one to your route. Make sure your phone is 100 %loaded, and take an external battery if possible”, advocates Dr Gérald Kierzek.
Survival kit for a summer evening
“Remember to take a phone loaded with the emergency numbers in favorites, a bottle of water and snacks (like cereal bars), sunscreen if the day takes place outdoors, as well as a first aid kit containing dressings and disinfectant”, concludes the medical director of True Medical.
