Avomine

Antiemetic drugs are used to combat motion sickness and vomiting and nausea that are side effects of taking other drugs such as the drugs used for anaesthesia during surgeries or chemotherapies.

As an antiemetic drug, you can take Avomine to treat motion sickness and for symptoms of vomiting and nausea. You can also use this convenient and easy-to-use medicine for symptoms of vertigo, migraine, and even travellers diarrhoea treatment. 

Avomine contains promethazine which helps in regulating the action of histamine from binding to the receptor of the vomiting centre of the brain.

This part of the brain would respond to the nerve signals sent by the vestibular apparatus of the ear. This part of the ear sends messages to the brain about the movements of your head. If you are experiencing constant movement such as when you are riding a vehicle, it is sending multiple signals to the vomiting centre of your brain. As a result, you will experience feeling nauseous and the feeling of wanting to vomit. 

Since Avomine has promethazine as its active and main ingredient, any action of the histamine will stop the vomiting centre and prevent you from not only vomiting but also prevent you from having any nauseous feelings altogether.

Benefits of Taking Avomine

Whether it is a short ride to the nearest supermarket or train rides to other cities, travelling is considered as a fun and exciting activity that most of us would look forward to.

However, for those who suffer from motion sickness on the daily, travelling can be a burden and a struggle that they hurdle whenever they travel via planes, cars, trains, buses, ships, boats, and the like.

Luckily, medications such as Avomine can help them enjoy travelling without any disruptions and without any worries about feeling unwell throughout the ride.

Although it is ideal to take Avomine as preventative medicine, you can also use it for treatment once the feeling of motion sickness sets in.

Before travelling, you should take a tablet at least one or two hours prior. If you have not taken this medication before travelling and you are experiencing motion sickness along the way, take one tablet right away as well as later in the evening. If you will be travelling much longer, take one tablet every evening. And if you are still experiencing some symptoms, you can also take another tablet the following night.

If you’re taking Avomine to treat your vertigo and nausea, the maximum dosage you should take per day is three, unless prescribed differently by your physician.

Whether prescribed or not, you are highly encouraged to read the patient information leaflet that comes along with the medicine and read it thoroughly before taking this medicine.

When taking Avomine, swallow the tablets in whole with water. Food intake before using the medicine is optional. Children under five years old are discouraged from taking this medicine while children between the ages of five to ten should only take half of the tablet for every dosage. 

Avoid taking Avomine for seven days straight unless specifically prescribed by your doctor. If symptoms continue to persist after following the prescription and taking the suggested dosage, contact your doctor right away for advice.

For adults, the recommended dose of Avomine can vary depending on the duration of your trip. For longer trips, take one dosage each night at bedtime and especially the night before you set off. And for shorter journeys, taking one tablet one or two hours before travelling should suffice.

Should you forget and skip taking your Avomine tablet, do not double your dose to make up for the one you miss and take the next dosage as you should. If you mistakenly double your dosage, contact a physician and call the nearest hospital.
