Azithromycin (Chlamydia Treatment)

Used as a treatment against Chlamydia, Azithromycin belongs to the antibiotics group named macrolides. These antibiotics treat infections caused by bacteria like Chlamydia.

How does this medication work?

Azithromycin kills the bacteria that causes Chlamydia because of its macrolide antibiotic ingredients.

Azithromycin benefits

Since Chlamydia disease shows no symptoms most of the time, regular check-ups are important so that it can be cured quickly. If untreated, the infection spreads and causes even more inflammation, which poses a threat to fertility.

Treatment with Azithromycin is simple and quick and infection is prevented from spreading further in the body and to other people.

How is Azithromycin used?

It can be obtained only with a prescription. Consult your physician and read the information pamphlet contained in the package of the medication.

Azithromycin is supposed to be taken with a beverage, once daily.

How quickly does Azithromycin work?

Since Chlamydia is a bacteria, it usually takes around 7 days for Azithromycin to cure it. During this period, having unprotected sex isnā€™t advisable, as you can still transmit the bacteria to your partner, even during the process of treating it. Even if you donā€™t feel the symptoms anymore, you should abstain from unprotected sex during the first 7 days of the treatment.
