Microgynon tablets contain 21 active tablets while Microgynon ED tablets contain 21 active tablets and 7 inactive tablets. During the 7 days of taking the inactive tablets, your hormone levels will drop which is likely to result in a withdrawal bleed. The benefit of having 7 inactive tablet is that you just have to remember to take one tablet each day and not worry about remembering to re-start after your 7 day break.
